EMILY ROSE LANER NEZ Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident, Emily Rose Laner Nez will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 18 at The Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. A wake has been scheduled for Sunday evening beginning at 6 p.m. at 1418 Lafayette Street in Towaoc. Emily was born on July 15, 1950 in Blanding, Utah the daughter of John Parker Laner and Katie Deer. She passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at her home in Cortez at the age of 54. Emily loved to gamble, and enjoyed meeting and greeting other people. Traveling and seeing new places was a passion of Emily’s. Her grandchildren were her dearest love. Surviving Emily are her husband, Andrew Nez of Cortez; her children, Delaney Starr of Cortez, Melissa Watts and husband, Greg McCook of Towaoc; her grandchildren, Caleb Starr, Cody Starr, Kaelyn Starr, and Delvin Starr, Jr.; her siblings, Shirley Deer of Towaoc, Wanda Farjado of Tennessee, Ramona Cantsee of Towaoc, Wahella Begay of Whitemesa, Utah, Joanna Laner, Nola Price and husband, Lewis, Sandy Laner and husband, Raymon Kuebler, Sr. all of Towaoc, Clarissa Laner and husband, Kendall Whiskers of Cortez, Anabell Laner of Towaoc, Lori Laner of Cortez, Byron Laner, Johnny Laner and Wife, Kate Arkansas all of Towaoc, and Jack Cantsee, Sr. and wife, Mary of Whitemesa, Utah. Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Delvin Starr; and two sisters and two brothers.
