Emery Lovett, Jr was born on Feb 4,1926 in Pensacola Florida to Emery, Sr. and Helen Paton Lovett. He passed away on Dec 7, 2020, just short of his 95th Birthday.
Emery graduated from Chadwick High School in Palos Verde, California in 1943 and spent 1 year at the University of Colorado Boulder before enlisting in the army at the Presidio of Monterrey, California on Feb 21,1944. He served as a staff sergeant in the artillery, as a Howitzer gunner in France during World War II, and was discharged in December 1945. After his military service he moved to Mancos with his parents to help run their guest ranch above Mancos near the Jersey Jim fire tower. He spent many years managing Independent Lumber Co in Cortez before moving to Grand Junction where he met his wife Lois in 1967. After his retirement in 1980 from Independent Lumber in Grand Junction, he and Lois moved back to Dolores where he always said there was no place he would rather live than in the Four Corners. It was here he could enjoy hunting, fishing, boating on Lake Powell, caring for his yard, and especially his dogs.
Emery was preceded in death by his parents, as well as Lois, his wife of 52 years. He is survived by his 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Emery's wish was for all memorial contributions to be made to For Pet's Sake, P.O. Box 1705, Cortez, CO 81321.
