ELOISE JUNE ALEXANDER FERREE Memorial services for Eloise June Alexander Ferree will be held at the Mancos United Methodist Church Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Craig Paschal officiating. Eloise, daughter of James (Boe) and Callie Noland Alexander, was born June 12, 1918 in Mancos, Colo. and died at the Valley Inn in Mancos, Colo. on December 8, 2013 at the age of 95. After graduating from Mancos High School, she worked several years at the post office then at the Boys Market in Mancos. She moved to Cortez and worked at the Citizen State Bank for a number of years. In 1950 Eloise and Myron Ferree were married in Mancos and then moved to Grand Junction, Colo. Later, Eloise and Myron owned and operated trading posts in White Canyon, Fry Canyon and Mexican Hat. They built Baby Rocks Trading Post in Kayenta in 1967, which they ran until they retired in December 1980. They were trusted and loved friends to the Navajo people. They retired in Prescott Ariz. Eloise was a 74 year member of the PEO sisterhood. On July 4th 1982 she and Myron were baptized and became active members of the Prescott Community Church. They enjoyed spending their winters in San Carlos Mexico. Survivors include her stepdaughter, Vicki Ann and Dr. Jim Parker; stepson, George L. and Gwen Ferree both of Grand Junction; brother, Noland and Betty Alexander of Mancos; sister, Nancy and Neal Eddy of Cortez; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Boe and Callie Alexander; husband, Myron Ferree; sisters, Genevieve McGregor, Kathleen Newsome, and Tommy Lou Brown Phillips.
