ELMER “SWEDE” FERANDO Services for lifelong Cortez resident Elmer “Swede” Ferando will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 26 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Military honors will be provided by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Swede was born on February 27, 1919 in Rico, Colo., the son of Pete and Lucia (Fragno) Ferando. He passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 87.
