JOYCE ELLEN OLIVER Memorial services for lifelong area resident Joyce Ellen Oliver will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 23 at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. Ellen was born on November 6, 1954 in Cortez the daughter of Joe and Joyce (Roubidoux) Reed. She passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at University Hospital in Denver, Colo. at the age of 54. On June 23, 1973, Ellen married Leroy William Oliver in Cortez. Ellen was active in her community. She belonged to the Rainbelt Ladies Club and the Yellow Jacket Ladies Club. She was on the board of directors for Farmers Telephone Company and she spent many years as a leader for Kalvin's Kids 4H club. Ellen loved children and was able to work with them on a daily basis in the local schools. She was proud to have dedicated 19 years of her life as a para-professional. Ellen was a devoted Christian that valued her time with her family. In her free time, Ellen enjoyed traveling, sewing and camping. Surviving Ellen are her husband of 35 years, Leroy Oliver of Pleasant View; her children, Jody Gardner and husband, Preston of Dove Creek, Brett Oliver and wife, Taylor of Yellow Jacket, and Jennifer Taveira and husband, Anthony of Yellow Jacket; and her mother, Joyce Reed of Yellow Jacket. Ellen also leaves behind her grandchildren, Colemann, Kaidence, Brant, Danika, Camryn, and Sarah; her siblings, Spark Reed and wife, Barbara of Lewis, Don Reed and wife, Sandy of Montrose, Dixie Lee and husband, Dick of Yellow Jacket, and Sarah Crowley and husband, Don of Cortez; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Joe Reed.
