ELLEN BEATRICE BUTT Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Ellen Beatrice Butt will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church, Empire Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Brother Dean Kirk will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the church. Beatrice was born on January 21, 1921 in Enid, Okla., the daughter of Nelson Dixon and Pearl Lena Clara (Steele) Monger. She passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at her home at the age of 85. On June 2, 1938, Beatrice married Carl Lamar Butt in Cortez. Relief Society activities and time spent with family gave her the most enjoyment in life. Surviving Beatrice are her children, Ginger Palmer and husband, Jim of Blanding, Utah, Janet E. Moore and husband, Don, Ellen Sanders and husband, Richard, and Nelson Butt and wife, Donna, all of Cortez, Eric Butt and wife, Becky of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Donna Brimhall and husband, David of Farmington, N.M. She also leaves behind 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; as well as her siblings, Willadean Butt and Helen Mae Ernst both of Dove Creek, Cecil Monger and Pearline Arpke both of Mack, Colo., N.D. Monger and wife, Dorothy of Clifton, Colo., and Betty Jo Jordan and husband, Hal of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Butt in November 1999; and one son, Robert Butt.
