ELIZABETH ADAKAI NEZ Funeral services for longtime Aneth, Utah resident Elizabeth Adakai Nez will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11 at Ertel Memorial Chapel with Norman Mark officiating. Burial will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Elizabeth was born the daughter of John Whitehorse and Dolly (Jones) Whitehorse on July 14, 1921 in Montezuma Creek, Utah. She passed away at her home in Aneth on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the age of 92. In 1934 Elizabeth married Jack Adakai Nez Sr. in Montezuma Creek. She was an avid rug weaver and gave special attention to herding her sheep. Elizabeth loved to travel as well. Surviving Elizabeth are her children, Bessie Jelly of Blanding, Utah, Betty Nez, Dick Adakai Nez, Jack Adakai Nez Jr. and James Adakai Nez all of Aneth, Utah, Larry Nez of Clinton, Okla., Irene Nez, Loyld Nez and Dixie Nez all of Blanding, Utah, Nelson Nez of Black Mesa, Utah, and Johnathan Nez Sr. of Towaoc, Colo.; 41 grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her sister, Daisy Bylilly of Aneth. Preceding Elizabeth in death were her husband, Jack Adakai Nez Sr.; her parents; and two brothers, Jimmie Whitehorse and Kee Whitehorse.
