Elda Harriet Sterzing

ELDA HARRIET STERZING Elda Harriet Sterzing was born on September 9, 1911 in Burley, Idaho, the daughter of Clyde and Valera (Boner) Propst. She passed away on Friday, July 27, 2007 at her residence at the age of 95. Elda graduated from U.C.L.A. with a degree in education in 1933. She taught school for many years in El Centro, Calif. On August 6, 1939, Elda married Fred Sterzing. She retired at the age of 89 after devoting 50 years of her life to educating children. Upon her retirement, Elda moved to Cortez where she continued to teach children her love for arts and crafts. She was a member of the American Association of University Women. Elda enjoyed arts, crafts, reading and sewing. Surviving Elda are her daughters, Gayle Hawkins and husband, Jim of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Janice McGrath of Cortez; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her half-sister, Virginia Propst of California; and her half-brother, Jay Propst and wife, Mikie of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Fred Sterzing. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.
