Eileen Crites Gibbs

ANNA EILEEN (CRITES) GIBBS Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 11 at the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Paul Houston officiating. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Thursday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Eileen, a dedicated Christian and community worker, went to meet her Lord last Saturday, March 5, 2011 after a year long struggle with leukemia. She was 81 years old. Eileen died peacefully at her home in Cortez, Colo. Eileen was born April 27, 1929 to William and Lula Peters in Egnar, Colo. She grew up and attended school in that community. When she reached high school age the family moved to Cortez. There she became actively involved in the Cortez Assembly of God Church youth group. After high school graduation Eileen married Raymond Crites. They moved to California where they raised three boys. Eileen worked as a psychiatric nurse for the state hospital system until she retired. She then moved back to Colorado where she became involved with many church and community activities until her illness. Eileen is survived by her sons, Tim Crites of Cortez and Ron Crites of Phoenix, Ariz.; her granddaughter, Anna Lee and husband, Jeff of Cortez; by two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Mayci Lee; by her sisters, Oneta Linnens of Texas and Sylvia Herrick of Washington; and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The immediate family would like to thank the many friends and family that made Eileen's passing peaceful and easier. A special thanks to the personnel from Hospice who were always so kind and thoughtful with Eileen's care. Eileen experienced the joys of life to its fullest.
