Edward "Hays" Leonard

Longtime Arriola resident, Edward "Hays" Leonard, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2017 in Paradise, California. He was born September 7, 1943 in Cortez to Paul and Hazel Leonard. Hays was one of five siblings including Peggy, Ronnie, Lorraine, and Linley. He grew up in Arriola and was a 1961 graduate of the Montezuma Cortez High School. He married Judy Rose and has two sons, Rodney and Phil. Hays was a truck driver, hauling anything from cattle to heavy equipment. He was also a farmer and a welder/fabricator. He was a deacon in the First Southern Baptist Church for over 3 decades. Hays was preceded in death by his father, Paul; and siblings, Peggy and Ronnie. He is survived by his mother, Hazel; sister, Lorraine and brother, Linley; two sons, Rodney and Phil; daughter in law, Tracy; grandkids, Lacey, Lindsey, and Levi; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Hays never had an enemy and was loved by all who knew him. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Arriola Community Center at 2:00 pm.
