"May the work I have done speak for me."
Edward (Eddie) William Goodall was born October 3, 1934, in a rock house in Lebanon, Colorado to Willis Edward and Lola Mae Goodall. He passed away on February 20, 2025, in Cortez, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was 90 years old.
Eddie brought joy to his family, friends, and co-workers.
To say he was a hard worker doesn't tell the whole story. Early to rise, 3:30 am, with work in mind. Eddie discovered a love and fascination with farming and ranching early in life. That curiosity about nature followed him his entire life. From his hobbies (growing fantastic tomatoes) to his choices in careers. He worked for a seismograph outfit and oil companies in high school while farming and ranching. The plywood plant kept him outside, making a living for his family. That led to apple orchards and potato farming. Frontier Construction had Eddie installing a guardrail on Pikes' Peak. Mountain Gravel hired Eddie, and the adventures began: Cuba, NM; Tuscon, AZ; Cameron, AZ; and various road paving in Southwest Colorado. Then, Eddie and his nephew Phil Black worked for Weeminuche Construction. Eddie spent a summer working for Kirtland Construction in beautiful Cimarron, CO. When he returned, he said, "That's good for me." He sold his trailer and retired from the construction business. The City of Cortez gave Eddie all that nature he loved. He kept our city beautiful for many years, making great friends and mentoring young workers. He finally retired from retirement. He did not give up rising at 3:30 a.m.
Eddie married Beverly Banks. This union produced three children: Wade, Teri, and Denise. Eddie married Helen Green. Helen brought three children to this union: Joanne, Frank, and Johnny (Swede). Eddie married Betty Chandler. Betty brought two boys to this union, Troy Chandler and Kyle Chandler. Eddie and Betty have spent the last 28 years laughing, caring, and loving each other. Eddie had an open door for all, especially for kids. Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends loved their time with him. He supported each of these kids in all their sports and activities. Eddie's beautiful singing voice never aged, singing his last song two days before his hospitalization.
Eddie is survived by his wife Betty Goodall (Speer) of Cortez, CO; his sister Noreen Denham, Temecula, CA, and brother Jerry (Rosie) Goodall Lewis, CO; his children, Wade (Kim), Mesa, AZ, Teri Onsgard (Besu Bharu), Durango, CO, and Denise (Darrell) Rhodes, Vancouver, WA. Joanne (Kenny) Goode, Cortez, CO: Frank (Cindy) Green, Cortez, CO: Johnny (Swede) (Marie) Green, Norwood, CO: Troy (Michelle) Chandler, Cortez, CO Kyle (Melena) Chandler, Maricopa, AZ. 20 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren; A very special Goddaughter: Grace Louella Noyes and Many nieces and nephews.
