EDNA HELEN SWANSON Graveside services for Cortez resident Edna Helen Swanson will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23 at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. Reverend Bud Rousset will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Edna was born on November 21, 1910 in Seattle, Wash. the daughter of Edward and Hanna (Henry) Swanson. She passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Mesa View Retirement Home in Cortez at the age of 97. Edna thoroughly enjoyed visits from her family; she loved them all dearly. She liked to read, sew, and she loved all animals. Surviving Edna are her nieces, Carole Baldwin and husband, Gil of Dolores, and Linda Patrick and husband, Mike of Kingsport, Tenn.; her great nieces, Kimberly Mahnke and husband, Kevin of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Michelle Brooks and husband, Scott of Kingsport, Tenn.; and her great-nephew, Eric Baldwin and wife, Judie of Albuquerque, N.M. Edna also leaves behind her great-great-nieces, Beth Mahnke, and Hannah Brooks; her great-great-nephews, Lucas Baldwin, Logan Mahnke, Scott Brooks Jr., and Wallace H. Brooks; her sister-in-law, Gloria Earle of Cortez; and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wallace Swanson; and her sister-in-law, Marion Swanson.
