EDITH MARY LEE ENGLISH Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Edith Mary Lee English will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Pastor Gary Fowler will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Edith was born on March 11, 1933 in Webber Falls, Oklahoma the daughter of Jim and Ida Mae (Franklin) Hinds. She passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at the Mercy Medical Center in Durango. Edith was 71 years old. On November 6, 1950 in Dexter, N.M. Edith married Albert 'Bill' English. In 1960 they moved to the Cortez area. Edith later became an avid Colorado Rockies fan, and loved playing baseball with her grandchildren. Fishing and bowling were other favorite pastimes of Edith's. Surviving Edith is her beloved husband, Bill English of Cortez; her children, Sherry Land and husband, Don of Tatum, N.M., Audrey Lynn Lichliter and husband, Ron of Cortez, and Billie Huff and husband, Doug of Thatcher, Ariz. She leaves five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Nadine Stephenson and husband, A.R. of Yuba City, Calif. Preceding Edith in death were her parents. Memorial contributions can be made in Edith's memory to the American Cancer Society. Services are under the direction of the Ertel Funeral Home.
