EDITH ELAINE FLANAGAN Funeral services form lifelong area resident Edith Elaine Flanagan will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 7 at the Cortez First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Goodman Point Cemetery. Edith was born October 25, 1925 in Rena Ray, Colo. the daughter of Thomas E. and Margaret Elizabeth (Chastain) Martin. She passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 91. She married Lloyd E. Flanagan on June 29, 1945 in Big Springs, Tex. Edith had a great memory and was able to tell wonderful stories about life at Goodman Point. She was an avid gardener that truly enjoyed her beautiful rose garden. In her spare time, Edith made each of her grandsons and great-grandchildren a love quilt. For the past 20 years, she enjoyed creating lap robes and Afghans for the V.A. Hospital making 15 to 20 a year. Surviving Edith are her children, Elaine Uranga (Greg), Linda Foster (Seciel) and Lloyd "Buff" Flanagan, all of Cortez; and by five grandsons, Vincent Reedy (Lissa), Martin Reedy (Tasha), John Foster (Robyn), Timothy Heyman (Stephanie), and Shon Flanagan (Cristin), 17 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Lloyd Flanagan; by her grandson, Shane Foster; and by her siblings, May Plemons, Leonard Martin, Lela Walker, Oscar Martin, Elbert Martin, Alec Martin, and Claude Martin. Memorial contributions may be made in Edith's name to Hospice of Montezuma or the Cortez First Baptist Church.
