EDGAR LEROY LAW Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Edgar LeRoy Law will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Empire Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Bishop Adam Black will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. A visitation has been scheduled for Monday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. There will also be a viewing at the church one hour prior to service time on Tuesday morning. Ed was born on January 21, 1917 in Denver, Colo., the son of Claude Emerson and Dora Bell (Carpenter) Law. He passed away on Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 89. On August 13, 1938, Ed married Lucy Ellen Ault in Denver, Colo. He served his country during WWII with the United States Army. When his service time was over, the government awarded Ed and many other service men land in Alaska to homestead. The family spent some happy years in Alaska. Ed has been a very devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a talented, hard-working man that could construct about anything with his hands. He excelled in the building of cabins and carving red cedar and marble. Ed proudly built the family home in Montana. Above all he was a loving and tender man who put his family first. Surviving Ed are his wife of 68 years, Lucy Law of Cortez; his children, Steve Law and wife, Donna of Cortez, Linda Brady and husband, David of Kanab, Utah, Darlene Bawden and husband, Lyle of White Rock, N.M., Merry Freestone and husband, David of Cortez, and Dennis Law and wife, Lori of Union, Ore.; 30 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Donald, Helen, Harold, Vernon, Cecil, Floyd, Roger, Warren, and Max Law.
