EDENA VONNE AKIN Funeral services for Edena Vonne Akin, a lifelong resident of this area will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 16 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation has been set for Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Edena was born Aug. 12, 1962 in Cortez the daughter of Preston Edward Akin and Yvonne Marie Bertwell Akin. She passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 13 at the age of 41. Edena loved the outdoors especially time spent fishing. She also enjoyed hot tubs, hot springs, and most important to her was her family. Surviving Edena are her son, Ashton Cole Akin of Dolores; and her siblings, Dale Ray Akin and wife, Ann of Cortez, Darcy Gene Akin of Dolores, Debbie Lynn Valerio of Dolores, Daryl Dean Valerio and wife, Lisa of Green River, Wyo., and Denise Marie Neely and husband, Rick of Yellow Jacket; and her father, Preston Edward Akin. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Edena Akin with the Dolores State Bank to benefit her son, Ashton.
