EARL ORIS HUTCHINSON Memorial services for lifelong Cortez resident, Earl Oris Hutchinson will be held at a later date. Earl was born on September 6, 1920 in Lakeview, Colo. the son of Howard Arthur and Flossie (Walton) Hutchinson. He passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Vista Grande Inn at the age of 94. Earl was an Army Air Corp Veteran who defended his country during World War II. He was an active member of his community, belonging to the Cortez Lyons Club for 55 years. In 1959 Earl opened the Jewel Box which he owned and operated until his retirement. Earl enjoyed life, boating, skiing, hunting and fishing. He also loved to square dance, camp and travel. Earl had the unique ability to fix anything that was broke. Earl leaves behind his wife, Frances Edith (Myers) Hutchinson whom he married on April 7, 1991 in Pueblo, Colo.; his children, Jim Hutchinson of Dove Creek, Janie Gallegos and husband, Hank of Pueblo, Colo., Billie Jo White and husband, Richard of Pueblo, Colo., and Karen Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo. Surviving Earl are five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Janice Hutchinson of Cortez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their children. Preceding him in death are his parents, Howard Hutchinson and Flossie Hutchinson Keeler; his first wife, Margaret Hutchinson; daughter, Leslie Ford; and brother and sister, Clyde E. Hutchinson and Helen Anderson. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cortez Lyons Club #3593, C/O Marilyn Lee, P.O. Box 653, Cortez, Colo., 81321 on Earl's behalf.
