EARL MARTINEZ

  Earl Martinez, 72, of Cortez, Colo. sadly left us on December 24, 2023 following an extended illness. He was the husband of Vickie Martinez. They shared 33 years of marriage together. Though a confirmed bachelor when they met, Earl assumed the role of stepfather, grandfather, mentor and friend to Vickie’s family, four children and later, nine grandchildren.

  Earl was born in Shiprock, N.M. to Leslie and Alice Martinez. He graduated from Bloomfield High School and later attended school in Provo, Utah. He worked in the oilfield learning the trade and later owned and operated Montezuma Well Service in Montezuma Creek, Utah.

  Earl was interested in everything. He loved learning and travel and wanted to experience it all. He approached life with humor, generosity, and calm dignity.

  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Arriola Cemetery. A reception will follow at Crossroads Christian Fellowship Church at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Montezuma.
