Douglas Allen Hill was born in Cortez, CO on June 1, 1947. He passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 73.
Douglas had a good childhood. He made mistakes, as we all do, but he always tried to be a good person. He grew up in Cortez, CO, graduated from high school and then went into the Army. He served his time in Korea, then came home and decided to go to college. He enrolled at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO for a couple of years, and then went to Adams State in Alamosa, CO where he had to drop out due to finances. He worked at Mesa Verde National Park building trails and all sorts of manual labor. He enrolled in the military reserves and continued to pursue his education, but worked at what he could find. He went back to Mesa Verde and fought forest fires there, in Utah at Monument Valley, and at Yellowstone National Park. He then went back to Fort Lewis College and worked as a janitor and decided to go back to college. He did graduate from Fort Lewis College, but then suffered some medical issues and retired.
