DORIS R. FRENCH Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Doris R. French will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 20 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel with Pastors Kent Slyter and Jimmy Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. The daughter of Lloyd Aaron and Doris Eva (Baird) Brixey, Doris was born on June 14, 1921 in Osage, Okla. She passed away on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Vista Mesa Assisted Living at the age of 85. Doris married George William French Jr. on December 31, 1944 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Doris and George, or “Frenchie” as he was also known, enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his death in 2005. She was a member of the Arriola Bible Church. Doris was very talented with her hands and she enjoyed carpentry, sewing and floral arranging, as well as time spent outdoors. Surviving Doris are her children, Vicki Linderholm and Steven L. French both of Lakewood, Colo.; three granddaughters, Kristy Linderholm and Wendy Linderholm both of Los Angeles, Calif., and Holly Linderholm of Denver, Colo.; and one sister, Charlene C. Parker of Evanston, Wyo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; her brother, Lloyd A. “Buck” Brixey Jr. who they lost during World War II; and her sister, Lois L. Hayes. Memorial contributions can be made in Doris French’s name with Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740, Cortez.
