DONALD LINCOLN FRANKLIN Memorial services for Cortez resident, Donald Lincoln Franklin will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 29 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Don was born on February 12, 1924 in Good Thunder, Minn. the son of Horace William and Bida Belle (Osborn) Franklin. He passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 81. Don was an Army Veteran and an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Traveling, hiking and the outdoors were favorite pastimes of Don’s. He spent his working career as a Maintenance Supervisor for a nursing home and raised commercial asparagus in Minnesota. In Colorado, he raised beef and enjoyed farming. On August 12, 1959 in Delta, Colo. Don married Esther Lois Curtis. With this union two children were born. Surviving Don are his wife, Esther Franklin of Cortez; his children, Roberta Clausen and husband, Eugene of Lincoln, Neb., and Albert Franklin and wife, Deirdre of Dolores. He leaves five grandchildren; and his brother, Gordon Franklin and wife, Marjorie of Northome, Minn. Memorial contributions can be made in Don’s memory to the Adventist Christian School, 450 W. 4th Street, Cortez, CO. 81321.
