DONALD K. MAJORS Donald K. Majors, lifelong resident of Dolores, passed away April 6, 2011 at the age of 76. Don was born September 27, 1934 to Glenn and Mildred Majors. After graduation from Dolores High School, Don attended college and received a degree in finance and banking from the University of Colorado. In 1959, he returned to Dolores and accepted a position with the newly formed Dolores State Bank. He remained with the bank for 44 years and held the position of President for many years prior to his retirement in 2003. Don loved banking because it gave him the chance to help people and to visit with his many customers and friends. Don's greatest passion was cattle ranching. He worked tirelessly to build an operation that he could be proud of and pass on to his family. The ranch at Groundhog provided him with many treasured times. He loved being in the mountains working cattle, building fence, hunting and fishing. Don's love of ranching was instilled in his two sons who continue the operation started by their father. Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Majors; two sons, Chris and wife, Rhonda of Dolores and Rod and wife, Paulette of Lewis; and five granddaughters who were the light of his life, Kalysha, Josie, and Tatum of Dolores and Sidnie and Rylee of Lewis. He is also survived by his sister, Lenore Goode; and by his brothers, Robert Majors, Frank Majors, and Glen Majors. Don was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, William Majors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Don Majors Memorial Scholarship Fund at Dolores State Bank. This fund will provide scholarships to Dolores High School Graduates. At Don's request there will be no services.
