DONALD HARRISON WHITE Graveside services for Donald Harrison White, a lifelong resident of Pleasant View, will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 26 at the Sylvan Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Don was born on March 30, 1928 in Sylvan, Colo., the son of Harrison and Rose Alice (Retherford) White. He passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at his home at the age of 78. Don spent his entire life in Pleasant View only leaving during his service to his country during the Korean Conflict and while living in Arizona for a year. He married Mable Miera on August 8, 1955. Together they farmed for over 45 years. Don was a farmer “heart and soul” and took great satisfaction in his work. He retired when he was 68 due to ill health. Up to the time of his illness he also raised cows. Don was a quiet man who had a deep abiding faith in God and loved his family and his country. He was a staunch Republican and proud of it. He was diagnosed with emphysema nine years ago. This began a long, hard struggle. Don fought a valiant fight, willing to try new treatments and alternative medicines. He was a good husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Surviving Don are his daughters, Roxie Rupe and husband, Trent, and Debbie White; his grandchildren, Terra White, Leann Lloyd and husband, Josh, Donnie Davis, and Scott and Katie Rupe. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mable; his parents, Rose and Harrison; his brothers, Ed, Bus, and Gene; and his sister, Lorean. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Don White with the Emphysema Foundation.
