DONALD ERIC HANSON Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Donald Eric Hanson will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 4 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Don was born on June 1, 1918 in Cortez, the son of Eric Helmer and Hazel K. (Kirk) Hanson. He passed away on Monday, October 30, 2006 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. On August 11, 1951, Don married Helen Jeannette Schubert in Madison, Wis. He was a devoted member of the Cortez Elks Lodge #1789 and the Cortez Men’s Golf Association. Don could be found golfing quite often during the summer months, he had a great love of the game. Reading and the study of horticulture were pastimes that that Don enjoyed. Surviving Don are his wife of 55 years, Helen Hanson of Cortez; his children, Kirk A. Hanson and wife, Cheryl of Helena, Mont., Eric J. Hanson and wife, Katie of East Lansing, Mich., Carl D. Hanson and wife, Pamela of Grantham, N.H., and Karen S. Hanson of Shelton, Conn.; his seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Dean P.
