DOLLY UHRICH Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident, Dolly Uhrich will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 6 at the Arriola Bible Church. Pastor Kent Slyter will be officiating. Dolly was born on December 2, 1941 at Devils Lake, N.D. the daughter of Hugh and Kathleen (Buchscher) McMillan. She passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 64. On April 11, 1960 Dolly married John Edward Uhrich. They lived the Air Force life and traveled all over the world, raising four children in the process. One accomplishment Dolly was most proud of was going back to school and completing grades 8-12, then receiving her high school diploma. She moved to Cortez in 1980. The first few years she lived in Cortez, Dolly ran a daycare center out of her home. She enjoyed decorating cakes, doing arts and crafts and watching the beautiful Colorado scenery. Dolly was an active member of the American Legion. She also loved music, dancing and Elvis. While in Cortez she made numerous friends and enjoyed the company of her longtime companion Jack Guillette. Surviving Dolly are her mother, Kate Swanson of Devils Lake, N.D.; her children, Arlene Underhill and husband, Jeff of Albuquerque, N.M., Sue Aulston and husband, Stan of Dolores, Dan Uhrich and wife, Sherry of Arriola,; her step-daughter, Beth Davis and husband, Bobbie of Cortez; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Barb Lezon of Seattle, Wash., Mary Wallem of Longview, Wash., Joyce LaDouceur, and Bob McMillan both of Grand Forks, N.D. Preceding her in death were her father, Hugh McMillan; her husband, John Edward Uhrich; her daughter, Jackie John; and her companion, Jack Guillette. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dolly’s name at First National Bank.
