DIXIE LEE NORTHCOTT Funeral services for Dewey, Ariz. resident and former area resident, Dixie Lee Northcott will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 15 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Dixie was born May 22, 1940 in Mancos the daughter of Richard Horace and Hazel Marie (Goff) Yeomans. She passed away on Monday, November 10, 2008 at her residence at the age of 68. On August 1, 1957, Dixie married Odis "Bud" Northcott. Dixie and Bud lived in Cortez until 1970 when they moved to Phoenix, Ariz. where they lived until 1982. They purchased a cattle ranch on the Arizona Strip between Page, Ariz. and Kanab, Utah in 1980. They had the ranch until 2006. Dixie spent most of her time at the ranch and loved the solitude and lifestyle that it provided. They also had a home in Dewey, Ariz. where they had a firewood/log pole business. Dixie wrote a book that chronicled her life and experiences on the ranch. "Trekking Home" was published February, 2008. Surviving Dixie are her children, Korina Kay Payne and Richard Odis Northcott; her grandchildren, Kourtney Rachelle Payne, Kameron Kayleen Payne, and Matthew Payne; her siblings, Betty Peterson, Leslie Ramsey, and James Yeomans; and several nieces and nephews. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud Northcott; her daughter, Rachelle Lynn Northcott; and her sister, Joan Norton.
