DIXIE FERRICK Dixie Ferrick was born on August 7, 1929 in Phoenix, Ariz. the second daughter of Fredrick and Bessie Eunice (Lovelady) Hansen. She passed away Friday, October 24, 2008 at her daughter's home in Cortez at the age of 79. In Dixie's younger years she was a successful equine jockey. When Dixie and her late husband, Keith "Rowdy" Ferrick moved to the area, they were instrumental in the development of the local Search and Rescue Group. Dixie also worked as a clerk in the District and City courts. She loved to fish and travel, and Dixie was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Community service was highly valued in Dixie's life. Surviving Dixie are her daughter, Deene Hinton and husband, Steve of Cortez; and her special daughter, Becky Willbanks and husband, Tad of Lewis. Dixie also leaves behind her grandchildren, Stephanie Braun and husband, Matt of Cortez, Shayla Oliver and husband, Brandon of Yellow Jacket, Keenan Willbanks, and wife, Lori of Dolores, and Travis Willbanks also of Dolores; numerous great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Fred Hansen, Jim Hansen, and Billy Hansen, all of Arizona. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rowdy Ferrick; and her brother, Jack Hansen.
