DEWAYNE LEROY MCGETTRICK Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Dewayne Leroy McGettrick will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29 at the Cortez First Baptist Church. Pastor Vic Powell will officiate. Dewayne was born on September 8, 1921 in Webb, Okla. the son of Peter Michael and Jessie Ann (Barker) McGettrick. He passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 89. On March 30, 1943, Dewayne married Mildred "Millie" Leonard in Aztec, N.M. A Master Carpenter by trade, Dewayne owned and operated his own contracting business for many years in Cortez. Dewayne was very active in Gideon's and he was a past Deacon at the First Baptist Church. In his free time, Dewayne enjoyed fishing on the Dolores River. Hunting was another outdoor activity that he enjoyed. Dewayne was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed. Surviving Dewayne are his loving wife of 67 years, Millie McGettrick of Cortez; and his children, Beverly Williamson and husband, Ken of Cortez, and Donald McGettrick of Phoenix, Ariz. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Charley Williamson, Nicholas Williamson, Michael McGettrick, Jim McGettrick, and Scott McGettrick; three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Jewel McGettrick and wife, Mary of Safford, Ariz., Dennis McGettrick and wife, Karen of Des Moines, Iowa, Garvin McGettrick and wife, Lynn of Silverthorne, Minn., and Dale McGettrick and wife, Carol of Gainesville, Fla.; his sister-in-law, Zella McGettrick of Springfield, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Vivian McGettrick and Veryl McGettrick. Memorial contributions may be made in Dewayne's name to Gideon's International.
