DERRICK CLARK Funeral services for lifelong Towaoc resident, Derrick Clark will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Towaoc Cemetery. Terry Knight will be officiating. A visitation was scheduled for Monday afternoon at the Ertel Chapel from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Derrick was born on December 3, 1955 in Cortez the son of Joe T. and Florence Rose (Cuthair) Clark. He passed away on Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Northern Navajo Health Center in Shiprock, N.M. at the age of 50. Derrick graduated from Montezuma Cortez High School and went on to attend two years at Fort Lewis College. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and sang at the Bear Dance celebrations. Hunting was also a favorite of Derrick’s. Surviving Derrick are mother, Florence Rose Clark; his children, Erin Marie Clark and Ian Matthew Clark both of Towaoc; his aunt, Irene Wittmer of Escondido, Calif.; his sister, Velma Mills of Towaoc; and his nephews and nieces, DaVaney C. Mills and wife, Daisy, Flaydina Knight and husband, Terry, LaVella Mills, Jonathan Clark, Sherman Scott, Tracy Scott, Randy Scott, Becky Cooley, Nancy Clark, and Delphine Clark. He leaves several other extended family members as well. Preceding him in death was his father, Joe T. Clark.
