DERICK KEITH HURST 

 A celebration of life service along with his wife, Shay, and baby, Skylar, will be held at Montezuma County Fairgrounds on August 24th at 11am.

 Derick Keith Hurst, age 31, passed away on July 14th, 2024, alongside his beautiful wife, Shay, and precious newborn daughter, Skylar. He was a beloved son, brother, father, husband, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed.

 Derick was born on October 17th, 1992, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mancos, Colorado is where he spent most of his life. He graduated from Mancos High School in 2011 where he wrestled, played varsity basketball and football. After high school Derick became an apprentice Electrician and was recently employed at Nice Electric. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.

 More than anything, Derick was a devoted family man, who loved his wife, Shay, and children more than anything else. He loved spending time with his family, children, camping, all outdoor activities, sharing stories, playing games, and coaching them. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what.

 Derick enjoyed life just in general. He loved cooking with his smoker, hunting, spending time with family and friends doing any outdoor activity; always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for life with others. This disposition and personality also made him a cherished and loyal friend to many. He was an active member of his community, volunteering to coach community youth sports and also actively supporting and contributing to 4H. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

 Derick was proceeded in death by his great grandparents and grandfather, Jerry Hurst; his father, Keith Hurst, and grandmother, Vera White. He was also proceeded in death by an older brother, Terrie John Hurst.

Derick is survived his mother, Kellie Martin and husband Danny; his children, Abigail, Rhys, Nadia, Jamieson and Dean; his siblings, Harlie and Cruz Rivas, Stormy, Jonathan, Steven, and Diana Martin; his grandmother, Leona Hurst, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces. 

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the available Hurst Family Memorial Funds.
