Delsia Rachel Brown

August 22, 1919 — April 7, 2020

Delsia Rachel (Lampkin) Brown was born on August 22, 1919 to James Andrew Lampkin and Freda Myrtle Thomas. She had one brother, John Dillinger Lampkin, who was four years younger. At the age of 100+ years Delsia was called home to be with her loving family that has gone before on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
Delsia was born in Lehigh, Coal County, Oklahoma. Her mother died when she was 15 years old. She became the woman of the house quitting school to take care of her brother and father after her mother died, until her dad remarried Jesse Mae (Dixie) Bruton in 1939. In 1940, at the age of 20, she married Louis Benjamin Brown in Coalgate, Coal County, Oklahoma; the minister was GA Magnus of the Church of Christ.
Louis and Delsia had three children, Deloris Loyd (Pete) of Mancos, Colorado, Louis B. Brown Jr. (Irene) of Lindon, Utah, and Don Brown (Dorothy) of Dolores, Colorado. They have nine grandchildren, Stacy Loyd, Kurtis Louis and Nicole Brown, Karri Ann and Craig Decker, Sam and Lanier Johnson, Kelly and Jenny Johnson; great grandchildren, Mayan (Phillip) Russell, Aura Kirks, Josh (Mary), Ethan, Aundrea, Kaden, Peyton Brown, Zack and (Natalie), Kylie, Kensie Decker, Jared, Cody, Alison, Lane and Dustin Johnson, whom she loved with all her heart. They are all special in their own way.
Delsia was preceded in death by her mother, Freda Myrtle Thomas; her father, James Andrew Lampkin; her step mother, Jessie Mae Bruton; her brother, John Dillinger Lampkin; her grandsons, Jared Brown, and Eric Loyd; and her beloved husband, Louis Benjamin Brown, at the early age of 64, who passed away in 1984 of Alzheimer’s.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. We are all blessed to have her in our lives for so many years. She not only dedicated her life to her family, but also to her interest in gardening, oil painting, interior decorating, sewing, ceramics, needlework, and reading.
Graveside services will be held at Cortez Cemetery. Due to the current health situation and the mandatory restrictions on public gatherings associated with it, only immediate family will be in attendance.
