DELMER LEWIS “DEL” WILLIAMS Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident, Delmer Lewis “Del” Williams will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 13 at the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Del was born on October 8, 1933 in Bozeman, Mont. to Orvis and Elberta (Gibson) Williams. He passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2004 at his home in Cortez at the age of 70. Del served in the Coast Guard, and was a member of the American Legion, the N.R.A. and was a member of the B.P.O.E. for 30 years. For many years he kept up the Legion Campground above Dolores. Del loved to fish, hunt and enjoyed woodworking. His wife Dody Williams; his son, Danny Williams and wife, Terrie all of Cortez; stepson, Larry Michael Jones and wife, Debbie of Arizona; and daughter-in-law, Wilma Williams of Cortez survive him. His grandchildren, Ryan, Michael and Stephanie Williams all of Cortez, Clinton Michael Jones and Kristy Jones and husband, Shon all of Arizona; as well as two great granddaughters, Cortney and Hadley Jones; and his brother and sister, Larry Williams and wife Shirley of Helena, Mont., and Linda Brunner and husband, Bill of Bellgrade, Mont. survive Del. He also leaves several cousins and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; and his son, Michael Louis Williams in 1999. Memorial contributions can be made in Del's name at Citizen's Sate Bank.
