Delbert Eugene Fosnot passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family on March 3, 2021, at the age of 86. Delbert was born on July 29, 1934, to Clifton Hershel Fosnot and Eugenia Pearl (Johnson) Fosnot. He attended elementary school in Cahone, Colorado and graduated in 1952 from Dolores County High School.
After graduating he served in the United States Air Force where he was stationed at various bases, including Washington DC, Blythville, Arkansas, Frobisher Bay and Baffin Island. Delbert fulfilled his duty to the Air Force 1957. During his time in the military, he married his first wife, Sandra Riddick. To this union were born 5 children. He later married Sandy (Phillips) Crites and was joined by 3 step-children. He held various jobs, but his main passion was a full-time farmer. Delbert continued to farm up until his death. He was a life-long resident of rural Cahone, Colorado.
Surviving Delbert are his wife, Sandy; his brother, Clifton (Dee) Fosnot; his sister, Arveta (Frankie) Knuckles; his children, Gene (Ginger) Fosnot, Eddie (Mary) Fosnot, Gery (Verinia) Fosnot, Cheryl (John) Blair, Ryan (Dawnie) Fosnot; his step children, Debbie (Burt) Sanders, Brenda (Wes) Palmer, and Gary (Wendy) Crites; 13 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a step-granddaughter.
Viewing is scheduled for Friday, March 12, 2021, from 5-7 pm at Ertel Funeral Home. Services are to be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 10:00 am at the Evangel Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery.
