DEBORAH JEAN SMITH Funeral services for lifelong area resident Deborah Jean Smith will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 22 at the First United Methodist Church in Mancos. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Debbie was born on November 13, 1950 in Durango the daughter of William Winfield and Genevieve Jean (Alexander) McGregor. She passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at her Mancos residence at the age of 60. On December 18, 1987, Debbie married Donnie Lee Smith in Moab, Utah. A beautician for most of her life, Debbie worked in salons in both Mancos and Moab. She also spent time in the restaurant industry as a waitress in Moab and Mancos and Debbie also cooked at the restaurant at Mesa Verde. Debbie enjoyed sitting on her front porch talking to the passer-bys. In her free time she enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and playing dominoes. Debbie loved taking rides in the mountains and she enjoyed watching wildlife at the family camp trailer north of Mancos. Surviving Debbie are her loving husband, Donnie Lee Smith of Mancos; her daughter, Barbara Jean Dominick and husband, Warren of Moab, Utah; and her step-children, Tony Smith and wife Sandi of Moab, Utah, Scott Smith and wife Pat of Farmington, Mo., Annette Smith of Moab, Utah, and Donna Spangler and husband, Mike of St. Genevieve, Mo. Debbie also leaves behind her five grandchildren, Tiffany Paddock, Rachelle Nye, Christian Dominic and Arora Dominic, all of Moab, Utah; four great-grandchildren; and her brothers, James Frederick McGregor and wife, Ann of Carson City, Nev., and Robert McGregor of Cortez. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; and by her sister, Judith Caroline McGregor. Memorial contributions may be made in Debbie's name to the American Cancer Society or to Mancos Valley Bank where a fund has been started.
