David Wilson Allen

David Wilson Allen was born May 4, 1936 in Webb City, Missouri to Roy Leslie and Beatrice Irene Wilson Allen. David and his parents moved back to Hotchkiss, Colorado shortly after his birth. He attended Lazear schools and graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1954. He married Betty Jo Kirk and had two children, Nancy Allen and David Kirk Allen. He attended Barber School and started his career in Montrose, Colorado and moved to Cortez where he continued to barber for the next 59 years. On March 11, 1972 he married Glenda Douthit Stone and gained two sons, Bert Stone and Jaye Stone. Dave cherished his family. His friends and customers were his family also. Dave was very active in the community and was a Mason and Shriner. He was also a lifetime member of the Elks. During his younger years he was active in the Montezuma County Sheriff Posse where he served as major for one year. Dave gave to many organizations whether it was through his time or giving generously. In addition to working full time, Dave and Glenda owned and operated the Allens Trailer Park from 1976 to selling it in 2006. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Glenda, four children Nancy Allen, David Kirk Allen, Bert (Trish) Stone and Jaye (Vicki) Stone. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Brent Frigetto, Jessika (Daniel) Harcey, Elijah Allen, Courtney Allen and Tori Stone. He has two great grandchildren, Kaiama and Isaiah Harcey. He is survived by one sister, Joyce Cundiff and several nieces and nephews.
