DAVID L. COWLEY David L. Cowley of Florence, Kan. and formerly of Cortez passed away July 10, 2014 at the Newton Medical Center, Newton, Kan. Born January 1, 1941 to Joseph and Bertha (Barr) Cowley, Dave was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Don Cowley. He is survived by his daughters, Rustina of Vashon, Wash. and Tisha of Oklahoma City, Okla.; son Jeffery of Kiowa, Colo.; sister, Jean of Florence, Kan.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dave lived most of his life in the Cortez and Farmington areas. He graduated from Cortez High School in 1959. Dave served 30 years with the Colorado Army National Guard, retiring in 1990 with the rank of Sergeant Major. He had a long and successful career as an industrial parts salesman, furnishing supplies to the oil field industry. He worked for Caun-Co in Cortez as well as Lawson Products in Farmington. Dave received many awards as top salesman in this field. Dave was a special guy and will be sadly missed by all who knew him and shared a part of his life. Memorial services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 26 at the Cortez Cemetery. Services will be conducted by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75 Honor Guard.
