DAVID DOUGLAS KINGMAN Memorial services for Dolores resident David Douglas Kingman will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Reverend Erika Meyer will officiate. Dave was born the son of A. Douglas and Marian (Kollack) Kingman on March 23, 1936 in Los Angeles, Calif. He passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on Friday, January 2, 2009 at the age of 72. On June 1, 1958 Dave married Ginger Louise Ellis in Florence, Ariz. Shortly after their marriage the couple moved to the Cortez area where Dave was employed by Superior Oil as a Petroleum Engineer. Dave and the family remained in Cortez until 1976 when he was transferred. After his retirement, Dave and Ginger returned to the area. Together they began the endeavor of building a log home up West Fork with the aid of their children. Dave possessed many talents when it came to building the home; he was builder, electrician and tile setter. Always talented with his hands, Dave began building cars when he was 12 years old. His love of Colorado was found in much of his life including the music he listened to. His children remember him as a great father always ready to spend time with them. He will be deeply missed. Surviving Dave are his wife of 50 years, Ginger Kingman of Dolores; his children, Douglas Kingman and wife, Karen of Denver, Colo., Stephen Kingman and wife, Martha of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Finnin and husband, Mike of Littleton, Colo. and Leigh Ann Kingman and husband, Robert Wardlaw of Denver; and by seven grandchildren, Aubrey, Amanda, Matthew, Sara, Emily, David and Kate. Also surviving Dave are his three sisters, Margery Hartsfield and husband, Bob of Lake Tahoe, Calif., Betsy Grundman and husband, Jim of Elk Grove, Calif., and Maryann Roulier of Portland, Ore.; and by his brother, Bruce Kingman of California. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of David D. Kingman with St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 110 W. North St., Cortez.
