DAVID "DON" MILLER David "Don" Miller, born December 29, 1929 in Oak Park, Ill., son of David Miller and Adelaide (Brown) Miller and beloved husband of Robin Miller, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014. Don was the father of Linda Miller-Kahn (Jeff), Sandra Paszczeck (Robert), and Pamela Miller Kohler (Philip); stepfather to Jennifer Zochowski (Paul) and Michelle Potempa (Marc); and 10 grandchildren. Don served from 1951 to 1953 in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier during the Korean War. He was a lieutenant in the Chicago police department for 30 years followed by 10 years as a sergeant for the Cook County Sheriff's Department. Don grew up in Chicago, but spent his happiest days as a teenager working on a ranch outside of Dolores, Colo. His lifelong dream was to return to the cowboy life. He fulfilled that dream in 1999 when he retired to Pleasant View, Colo. with Robin. Together they created a new life on a small ranch, hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He will be missed by his family and many friends in Colorado and Illinois. Don was cremated as he wished. No service will be held. A celebration of Don's life will be scheduled at a later date.
