DAVID ALLEN JOWELL A Celebration of Life will be held for Lewis resident David Allen Jowell at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Visitation has been scheduled for Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. David was born May 26, 1959 in Rifle, Colo. the son of Arthur J. and Connie Lee (Scott) Jowell. He passed away at his home on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the age of 53. David was known to his friends as David Allen "Sasquatch" and will be missed by them. He played high school football and was a Washington Redskins fan. David enjoyed building model cars, riding motorcycles, and cruising through the outdoors. He loved animals, and stray animals held a special place in his heart. David also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Surviving David are his life partner, Donna E. Roseberry of Lewis; sons, Howard Wayne Veach of Cortez and Donald James Veach and wife, Katie of San Diego, Calif.; daughters, Mary Suzanne Veach-Birdsall and husband, Jasen of Cortez and Kelly Lynn Veach-Harris and husband, Dave of Cortez; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Steve Jowell and wife, Bobbi of Enumclaw, Wash., Jerry Jowell and wife, Verna of Dolores, and Jim Jowell and wife, Annette of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Gary Sanders of Loveland, Colo.; sister-in-law, Elke Jowell of Fruita, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Connie Jowell; sister, Clair Anne Sanders; brothers, Paul Jowell and Jack Jowell; and sister-in-law, Esther Jowell. Memorial contributions can be made to Cortez Animal Shelter, 2791 E. Main Street, Cortez, Colo.
