DARRELL EUGENE VEACH Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Darrell Eugene Veach will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 30 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Empire Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Elder Dean Kirk will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. The son of George Luther and Lillian Ardella (Hall) Veach, Darrell was born on September 14, 1933 in Cortez. He passed away on July 25, 2007 at the age of 73. Darrell was a graduate of Montezuma-Cortez High School. On July 27, 1956, he married Dixie Joyce Holman Albin in Cortez. The couple shared over 50 years of marriage. Darrell was very active in his community. He was a current board member for First National Bank; he belonged to the Cortez Elks Lodge, V.F.W., Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75, and the Southwest Cattlemen’s Association. Darrell was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In his free time, Darrell enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool, trap shooting, and collecting coins. His grandchildren brought his life much happiness; he loved being with his family. Surviving Darrell are his wife, Dixie Veach of Cortez; his children, Casey Wade Veach and wife, Lexy of Monticello, Utah, Kellie Dawn Veach Beyers and husband, Pat of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Corey Van Veach and wife, Michelle of Cortez; his grandchildren, Dusty Veach, Abbie Stierly, Derek Veach, Brady Veach, Justin Veach, Jeremy Veach, Katie Veach, Jaci Veach, Cole Veach, and Isabelle Veach; and his great-grandchildren, Hailey and Brian Veach. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Bill L. Veach.
