DAPHNE JEAN TIBBETS Memorial services for longtime area resident Daphne Jean Tibbets will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Daphne was born July 3, 1924 in Rockford, Iowa the daughter of Harry Dallas and Vada Goldie (Trevett) Pecht. She passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 87. Daphne had a love for music. She played the piano, organ the violin and enjoyed singing. She was always busy making something. She grew a garden; home canned all sorts of food. She was out every fall hunting venison and elk with the best of them! Daphne loved the outdoors, camping, fishing & gardening. She was an accomplished seamstress and could sew anything you could want or need. She enjoyed oil painting, tying flys, beading earrings, knitting, crocheting and put many jigsaw puzzles together. She raised four children. She had great fun with her grand children and continued making things for them just as she had always done. She passed on many of her skills to her 4 kids. We all knew how much we loved. During World War II Daphne helped the war effort by working as "Rosie the Riveter." She was always very proud of the fact that she had three sons that were Vietnam Veterans. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Mancos Post. She was loved very much and will be forever missed by us all. Surviving Daphne are her children, Roy D. Tibbets of Mancos, grand kids, Roy Jr. & Chris, both in Utah, Venessa Cowart, Grand Junction, Dallas Tibbets and wife, Pat of Spokane, Wash., grand kids Sonja & Teresa, Mike & Dallas Jr., in Washington. and Leila Parga and husband, Dallas of Cortez, grand kids Machell Parga, in Utah, Tiffany Ghere and husband Andy, great grand kids, Rashawn & Kyla, all of Cortez, 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great, grand kids.
