DANIEL SANFORD BYLER Funeral services for Cortez resident Daniel Sanford Byler will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 23 at the Delaware Mennonite Church in Thompsontown, Penn. Interment will follow at the Delaware Mennonite Cemetery in Thompsontown. Visitation has been scheduled for Sunday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church and on Monday morning from 10 to 11 a.m., also to take place at the church. Dan was born on February 23, 1929 in Lewiston, Penn. the son of Daniel Henry and Amanda Barbara (Summers) Byler. He passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at his residence at the age of 79. On December 10, 1949, Dan married Sadie Stella Sharp in Belleville, Penn. Dan was a member of Gideon's International and he owned and operated Byler Farm Supply in Walnut, Penn. for 20 years. Dan had a wonderful sense of humor and time spent with his family made him truly happy. His grandchildren also brought his life much joy. Dan enjoyed walking and hiking, just to be outdoors lifted his spirits. He also liked to travel. Surviving Dan are his wife, Sadie Byler of Cortez; his children, Diane Hilton and husband, Robert of Ouray, Colo., Dan Byler and wife, Lynn of Anthem, Ariz., Marian Good and husband, Luke of Lancaster, Penn., Betty Martinez and husband, Gil of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Chet Byler and wife, Karen of Montrose, Colo., Mabel Tidwell and husband, Jim of Toney, Ala., Nancy Martin and husband, Bob of Cortez, Darla McNaughton and husband, Dean of Duncannon, Penn., and Kevin Byler and wife, Niky of Mechanicsburg, Penn.; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Lucy Graybill and husband, Wilbur of Mifflintown, Penn. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Chester Byler. Memorial contributions may be made in Dan's name to Gideon's International.
