DANIEL PATRICK ROOT Military graveside services will be held for Dove Creek resident, Daniel Patrick Root at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 10 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Daniel was born Feb. 28, 1944 in Los Angeles, Calif. the son of Roland Lawrence and Ella Mary (Swalley) Root. He passed away at his home in Dove Creek on Friday, April 30, 2004 at the age of 60. A decorated serviceman, Daniel served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He received the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Prior to moving to Dove Creek 5 years ago, Daniel served as Undersheriff for the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office. He spent 20 years in law enforcement. Surviving Daniel are his children, Maria Adams of Cahone, and Daniel P. Root of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; and five grandchildren.
