DANIEL DEAN CARVER Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Daniel Dean Carver were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 26 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment followed at Lebanon Cemetery. Daniel was born on November 7, 1927 in Cortez the son of John D. and Lula (Taylor) Carver. He passed away of old age and natural causes on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his residence at the age of 83. On September 29, 1950 Daniel married Dorothy Koppenhafer in Aztec, N.M. Together they shared 60 years of marriage. Daniel was employed by the Montezuma County Highway Department for twenty-six years, retiring in 1989. In his free time, Daniel enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. Surviving Daniel are his beloved wife, Dorothy Carver of Dolores; his children, Trent Carver and wife, Denise of Cortez, Jeff Carver and wife, Robin of Cortez, Gaylene James and husband, Perry of Dolores, Wanda Maras and husband, Jack of Dolores, Rita Weitzel and husband, Robert of Dolores, and Jill Umberger and husband, Jason of Dolores; twenty-six grandchildren, Kedd Carver, Kal Carver and wife, Shannon, Kamla Delahel and husband, Alberto, Koyn Carver and wife, Heather, Kisha Rios and husband, Ruben, Chelsea Philpot and husband, Allen, Tina Tevault, Jerry Tevault and wife, Maggie, Zachary Bass and wife, Teresa, Isaac Bass and wife, Stefanie, Wes Lackey and wife, Kayla, Jessica Bass and fianc, D.J. Scott, Joshua Lackey and wife, Amanda, Janelle Lackey, Crystal James and husband, Niel Cook, Cimber James and husband, Micheal Moran, Perry James II and wife, Cassie, Sid Carver and wife, Hannah, Kit Carver, Dale Carver, Audrey Weitzel, Dustin Weitzel, Alina Umberger, Regan Umberger, Larissa Umberger, and Zachery Umberger; 29 great grandchildren; and his siblings, John Carver Jr. and wife, Sandy of Cortez, Darrell Carver of Texas and Milda Sitton and husband, Walter of Cortez. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Ronda Lackey; one grandson, Kace Carver; and by his siblings, Leone Dennison, Dale Carver, Laurna Moore, Uel Hackett, Bonnie Rust, Tom Carver, Patsy Sproul, Sara Fish, and Judy Fish.
