DALE JAY JETER Memorial services for lifelong area resident Dale Jay Jeter will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 at Audrey Allmon's Clubhouse, 21101 Road G, Cortez. Chaplain Marvin Graves will officiate. Dale was born July 10, 1920 in McElmo, Colo. the son of Silas Edmund and Lena Edna (Dobbins) Jeter. He passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 92. On December 3, 1987, Dale married Annette Nell Williams in Durango, Colo. During his working years, Dale was employed in various mines and oil fields. He built the dry ice plant in McElmo Canyon and Dale was responsible for the discovery of the first well oil in Aneth and carbon dioxide in McElmo Canyon. He managed dances for the Golden Age 55+ Club. In his free time, Dale enjoyed dancing, gardening, fishing, hunting, spending time with his horses, and running his calves in the summer. Surviving Dale are his children, Tommy Jeter of Cortez, Lewis Edmund "Ed" Jeter of Cortez, Darryl Ray Jeter and wife, Tatiana of Cortez, and Barbara Jeter of Cortez; his step-children, Doris Babble and husband, Bill of Delta, Colo., Olivia Kinsey and husband, Tom of Castle Rock, Wash., and Glenn Bell and wife, Elna of Stockton, Calif.; and 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Annette Jeter; and by his sister, Joy Jeter.
