DALE DAVID RISTAU Dale David Ristau of Mancos, Colo. passed away at the age of 87 at his home on Summit Ridge on Thursday, February 4, 2010. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Dale David Ristau was born December 6, 1922 in Coal Valley, Ill. to Ernest Arthur Ristau and Emma Victoria (Swanson) Ristau. Dale married Evelyn Muhlman in 1949 and was later divorced. On October 14, 1971 in Torrington, Wyo. he married Lorna Ann Elliott Thompson and to this union came 4 stepchildren. Moving to Colorado in 1978, he worked for Rilla King as a ranch hand. He retired from ranching in 1980. He was a carpenter, welder, and semi truck driver. Surviving Dale are his wife of 38 years, Lorna; his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Max Benson of Rock Island, Ill.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ristau of Cannon Falls, Minn.; his stepdaughters and husbands, Carleen and Steve Baldwin of Waterloo, Ill., Barbara and Jim Benson of Aztec, N.M., Carla and Dave Allmon of Cortez; and stepson, Kevin and Dixie Thompson of Farmington, N.M.; 16 step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces and special family friends, Brent, Debbi, Hunter and Tanner Hite. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Willard, Earl, Marvin and infant brother; niece and nephew; and a step great granddaughter.
