DALE ANDREW KIBEL, SR. Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident, Dale Andrew Kibel, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow. Pastor Anthony Maes of the Cortez Church of The Nazarene will officiate. Dale was born on June 3, 1948 in Parks, Neb. to Ross Conrad and Ruth Irene (Smith) Kibel. He passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at his home in Cortez at the age of 55. Dale love stock car racing and was a member of the Montezuma County Fairgrounds Speed Way and raced car #45. He was able to race next to his sons at the speedway the last two years. Dale's other favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, painting and scrimshaw. Surviving Dale are his children, Denise Dale Kibel, William Ross Kibel, Dale A. 'Jay' Kibel Jr. and wife, Valerie, and Stacey Lynn Kibel all of Cortez. He leaves nine grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters, Gerald Kibel of Lakewood, Colo., Wayne Kibel of Grand Junction, Colo., Ross Kibel of Cortez, Gary Kibel and Larry Kibel both of Dove Creek, Tony Kibel of Grand Junction, Phyllis Burch of Sacramento, Calif., Ruby Shore of Bosque Farms, N.M., Hazel Prusse of Denver, Colo., Ruth Elaine Wassemiller of Oakley, Kans., Verna Meyer of Kansas, and Darlene Perkin-Davis of Cañon City, Colo.; as well as his children's mother, Uarda Ann Kriner. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brother, David Kibel in 2003. Memorial contributions can be made in Dale's memory to Hospice of Montezuma.
