Daisy Tennessee Mahaffey

Daisy Tennessee Mahaffey was born September 3rd, 1933 in Arriola, Colorado, the daughter of John and Viola Johns. She passed away on Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 at her home in Cortez, CO, surrounded by her children. She passed away at the age of 91.

She married Charles L. Mahaffey on November 23rd, 1956 in Aztec, NM, and they spent 50 years farming in Southwestern Colorado. She loved the farm life: born on a farm, she loved her horses, cows, and dogs. She loved playing with her children on the farm and cheering for them at their rodeos. She sponsored the Ute Mountain Rodeo Club for many years, and was an active member in the Round Up 4-H club as a leader. She was known for her fantastic cooking, drawing people to her home every day.

Surviving Daisy are her children, Jerry Mahaffey and his wife Neeta of Cortez, CO; Larry Mahaffey of Rawlins, WY; and Sherri Franchini and Mike of Cortez, CO, as well as 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, her parents John and Viola, and her 10 brothers and sisters.
