Cynthia Ann Yazzie
January 17, 1965 - November 26, 2021
On Friday, November 26, Cynthia Ann Yazzie, loving wife and mother of five children passed away at the age of 56, due to a heart attack.
Cynthia was born on January 17, 1965 in Cortez, CO to Dan and Helen Lansing. She was the 2nd youngest of 11 children and grew up in Aneth, UT until the age of 11. Shortly after, she took part in the Native American Placement Program in SLC, UT. Her foster families were The Morgan's, followed by The Hedgepeth's. She then married and raised a family of 5 children, and in later years returned to Cortez, CO with her husband, Randy Dukepoo.
Though Cynthia went to cosmetology school, her true passion was creating art and pottery, which she sold at art shows across the country. Family was very important to her; she loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally and was happiest when spending time with loved ones. Cynthia also enjoyed music of all kinds and you could often catch her dancing to her favorite songs. She also had a goofy side and loved to make people laugh in any way that she could. Cynthia was very spiritual and heavily relied on her faith as a member of the LDS church. In May of 2018, she suffered a stroke and nearly lost her life - but Cynthia was a fighter and managed to find the strength to be there for her family another 3 1/2 years, with the help of her husband by her side. Though it wasn't easy for her, she always had a smile on her face and was grateful for the second chance given to her.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her son, Kaleb; brothers, Gene & Tom Lansing; and grandparents, Elizabeth & Handy Lansing. She is survived by her husband, Randy Dukepoo; her children & grandchildren, Stephanna (Ayana, Ayden & Ari), Steven, Jachelle & Taya; along with her siblings, Paul, Hayden, Jess, Bob, Hilda, Virginia, Ella Mae & Marie. She will be greatly missed, but we are at peace knowing she is reunited with her son, Kaleb, her brothers and other loved ones.
