Funeral services for Cortez resident Curtis Truemon Ferguson will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held at the end of the service. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery.
Curtis was born May 21, 1926 in Ellington, Missouri the son of Arthur Vernon and Elva Marie (Goforth) Ferguson. He passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at his residence at the age of 92.
Curtis came from Missouri to Colorado in April 1938 and lived in the Egnar and Cortez area. He served in the Army in Japan during World War II. He married Ruth Ellen Randolph on June 5, 1948 in Aztec, New Mexico. He drove truck for many years and was a good mechanic. Curtis and Ruth owned the Ute Mountain Coffee Shop for many years. Curtis was a member of the VFW 5241 and the American Legion Ute Mountain Post #75. He enjoyed traveling, site seeing, prospecting, and hunting with his brothers. But family was most important to him.
Surviving Curtis are his daughter, Barbara Ebberts (Ron) of Egnar, CO; his grandchildren, Curtis Ebberts (Delana) of Farmington, NM and Lori Ebberts of Egnar, CO; his great grandchildren, Preston Holley of Dove Creek, CO, Freddie Isom (Colton) of Dove Creek, CO, Tyler Ebberts of Dove Creek, CO, Tristan Ebberts (Kylie) of Midland, TX, and Nathan Ebberts of Egnar, CO; his siblings, Howard Ferguson of Winona, MO, and Reva Davis of Harrison, AK; and seven great great grandchildren. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Ellen (Randolph) Ferguson; his brothers, Willis Ferguson, Leemon Ferguson, Vernon Ray Ferguson, Bernice Ferguson, and Lowel Ferguson.
